From Public Engagement to Scholarly Journal

Archival materials presented on this page document earlier phases of The Indicter and are provided for historical reference; the journal’s current scholarly scope, editorial standards, and positions are defined exclusively by its peer-reviewed publications and editorial policies.

The Indicter has a long and complex history shaped by intellectual engagement with human rights, civil liberties, and geopolitical power. This page documents the journal’s origins and evolution and preserves selected materials from its earlier phases.

The publication originated in 2005 as The Professors’ Blog – Science, Culture and Human Rights for All, an academic-led digital platform created to intervene in public debate at a time when urgent political and human rights issues demanded visibility and response. During this period, the publication functioned primarily as an intellectual and advocacy-oriented forum, engaging with public discourse and documenting human rights concerns in real time.

In 2015, the publication underwent a substantive transformation in name, format, and scope, becoming The Indicter. That year marked the formation of an Editorial Board and the beginning of a deliberate shift toward a scholarly journal model. Since 2017, The Indicter has operated as an independent, open-access academic journal, published by Libertarian Books Europe, a non-profit editorial enterprise registered in Sweden.

This transition reflects a conscious editorial choice: while the urgency and moral clarity of earlier advocacy remain historically significant, the journal’s current mission is to provide a rigorous, evidence-based platform for scholarly research in political epidemiology, geopolitics, human rights, and civil liberties.

Editorial Note

The inclusion of archival materials on this page serves the purpose of historical transparency and documentation. The journal’s peer-reviewed scholarly content, editorial standards, and academic scope are defined exclusively by the policies and publications presented elsewhere on this website.

Between 2011 and subsequent years, The Indicter maintained a video channel documenting public events, interviews, and audiovisual material related to human rights violations, freedom of expression, and geopolitical conflicts. Many of these recordings constitute primary documentation of historical events and public testimony rather than editorial commentary.

The channel is preserved here as an archival resource. The content reflects the historical context in which it was produced and does not necessarily represent the current editorial positions or scholarly standards of The Indicter as a journal.

Founding Context

The Indicter was founded in 2005 by Prof. Marcello Ferrada de Noli as an academic-led digital platform addressing issues of science, human rights, and public accountability. During its early years, the publication functioned as a forum for public intellectual engagement and documentation of human rights concerns. As the journal evolved, editorial governance and scholarly standards were formalized, leading to its current structure as an independent, peer-reviewed academic journal.
